Matariki celebrations

Kia ora!
This is my Matariki celebration slide show. This task is about Matariki and there were a lot of questions that I had to answer. There was also some things that are happening around Tamaki Makaurau like "Matariki woven histories, Matariki ki papakura and heaven and earth".

One of the slides that I LOVED doing was "What could Tamaki Primary do to celebrate Matariki" and I had a lot of things that we could do. Something that I wanted to do was fireworks and cultural performances because people get to see how we celebrate Matariki and everyone would come alone and enjoy everything that we did.

Here is a presentation about Matariki and how other people celebrate it!

And please comment feedforward and feedback so I can work on it next time.

Taku Rakau Whainga

KIA ORA!
Ko Cerenity toku ingoa.

Today we had to do some goal setting trees. This presentation is about what my goals are, how can I achieve them and many more.

This is normally about my Nan because she helps me with everything and she is a good role model to me. Something that I really need to work on is blogging because if only blog on in a while but something I can blog heaps and heaps of times.

As you can see this is called "Taku rakau whainga" because this is about goal setting trees and this presentation is about setting my own goals.

On the second slide they are my goals.
On the third slide they are the things that could stop me from achieving my own goals.
One the forth slide it's about who can supporting to achieve my goals.

If you read more you will get more infomation...

Technology T2W8

Today for technology we made pasta salad! It was so nice because the pasta and the mayonnaise was the best ingredients that were put in the bowl. Something that I found difficult was waiting to see if the pasta was soft or not when it was boiling in the pot because we thought if was still hard but when we checked it by putting one in cold water and eating it, it was PERFECT! We also put in some other ingredients to make it taste even NICER!

The ingredients are...
- Pasta
- Onion
- ham
- tomato
- mayonnaise

This is a picture of my finished product...

Something that I enjoyed about technology and making pasta salad was doing it as a group because me and Aja were together and we had a great time. Something that I didn't really like was eating the onions because I didn't really like it but it was alright!

I hope you enjoyed reading this and please comment feedforward and feedback so I can work on it next time.

THANKS!

Whakatauki o te wiki!

Kia ora,
Ko Cerenity toku ingoa.

Today for whakatauki o te wiki, the whakatauki was "Ka kitea a Matariki, Ka rere te korokoro". which means "At the time of Matariki, it's time to move. It was great learning about this whakatauki because this was a little bit about Matariki and I like learning about it!

On the last slide I made my own whakatauki and it means that people need to take risks everywhere so you can be and winner and be proud of yourself.  Here is a presentation of my Whakatauki o te wiki.

And please give me feedforward and feedback so I can work on it next time!

Te reo maori!

Kia ora,
Ko Cerenity toku ingoa.

Today and yesterday we did a little bit of te reo maori by finding out what these maori words mean in English. Our teacher "Miss Kyla" also was reading a book to help us so we know what they mean and you can watch it if you want. Anyway we did this because since we are a bilingual class (Which means Maori class) we need to start getting into more TE REO things! There was also a maori site to go on if we needed help. As you can see if you go down to the last slide my favourite food is HANGI because it just love it and it's so delicious. This presentation is about the different kinds of foods we eat and a little description so check it out if you want to find out more.

And please comment feedforward or feedback so I can work on it next time!
..THANKS..

Sugar songs

This week we have been doing our own songs about "SUGAR"! We all got into groups and worked on a song to share with the class. In my group there was Me, Constance, Aja, Irys and Stacey + Frances but she was away. Something that I learned about this week was communicating with each other, sharing our ideas and all agreeing on it. Something that I found challenging was nothing because we all corroborated and we worked as a team. We did this because our teacher "Miss Kyla" wanted too see what we've learn't from the documentary "That sugar film". Something that me and my group need to work on is singing louder because we could only hear some of our group and the rest were lip syncing. My favourite bit about today and was listening to other people's songs, raps or poems that they made.

This is a presentation off all the videos about our sugar songs...

PS: please comment on my blog so I can work on it!

Refrection about maths!

Kia ora tamariki ma! Ko cerenity toku ingoa.

Today for maths some visitors came to our classroom to see what we are learning at the moment. My group and other group worked on the same thing while the rest worked on there number of the week. We played with the lego and we got questions that we had to answer but they were fractions! Me and my friend Constance worked together and we made 1/4, 5/8's, and 1 half. We were a great team because I really liked her ideas and she liked my ideas! Something that we found difficult was looking for all the pieces because there were a lot of us and some people were building big things. We also did a question using take aways and the question was 231 - 78 and the answer was 152 because 130 - 70 = 160 then 160 - 8 = 152 + 1 = 153.

But here is a picture of me, Constance and our Lego's!

Also can you please comment on my blog so I can work on it! THANKS...

Pokorua T2W7

Today we are reading a maori text about ants! This is a story about ants that are finding food but the food is too big. The book is called "Pokorua" which means ants in maori. I am going to be doing another google document about this book and translate it into english for my next task. For now this is a google presentation about some of the words that I found interesting in the book! And please comment feedforward and feedback so I can work on it as a goal for me!

Uncle Trev and his whistling bull

Today I was reading a book called "Uncle Trev and his whistling bull" by "Jack Lasenby". This is a story about a boy who gets sick all the time and has to stay home whether he likes it or not. When we stays home, he lies in bed counting the shadows from the leaves. While he was lying in bed so bored, Mum went to the shops to get the mail and the paper. When she was out of the house the boys uncle comes in with exciting news for him! Uncle trev (the boys uncle) has a bull that can whistle. He tells the boy that his favourite song to whistle to was "Pokarekare ana". But when the mum comes back, the bulls stops and the mum sees uncle Trev telling the boy about a whistling bull. The mum didn't believe him and she told the little boy not to believe him too, but he did. The mum told uncle Trev to get out of her house and told the little boy to get some rest.
Right now i'm on chapter 4 because i've haven't had time to read all of it but I know that this story is getting very interesting and i'm going to post another blog post about the next chapters that I'm going to read!
WALT: Reflect about what happened in technology!

Yesterday in Technology we made potato salad and chicken kebabs. First My friend Aja cut the potatoes and put them in the pot and onto the stove (They were already peeled). Then my other friend Mary Jane peeled a carrot and grated it into a plate. After that I got the raw chicken, put them on the sticks, and put them in the oven to cook. We also put an egg in the pot with the potatoes so it can boil. When the pot of potatoes and the boiled egg was finished, we put them in another pot so it cools down and left the egg on the table so it cools down too. We put the potatoes in cold water so it cools down faster. We then put the potatoes in a bowl, took the skin off the egg and mashed it together using a spoon. Finally the kababs were finished and we put them in a sauce so it tastes better. THEN WE WERE FINISHED!!!. We cleaned up and then we went on the bus back to school.

This is the ingredients if you want to make potato salad or chicken kebabs...
- Raw chicken
- potatoes
- an egg (or more if you want)
- pot
- knife
- greater
- chopping board
- straight peeler
- sauce

Make sure you do this with an adult!

Technology T2W5

Today for technology we made bread cases with spaghetti in them. First we cut the crust off the bread and we stuffed them in the cupcake tin. Since there was the crust left, some of my group ate it and some of my group didn't so we chucked the left overs outside for the birds to eat. When we filled up all the tins we added the spaghetti in the middle and then put it in the oven. Something that went wrong was that we left it in to long and it burnt but we didn't want to waste it so we ate all of it. Something that we need to work on is keeping an eye on our cooking so we don't get burnt food. Here is a picture of our "Spaghetti bread cases".
Here are the ingredients on how to make Spaghetti bread cases.
1. Heat the oven the 180 degrees
2. While it's heating up, cut the crust off the bread
3. Get a cupcake tin and push then gently inside so the bread doesn't break and make holes.
4. Get a can of spaghetti and pore a little of it in to the bread
5. After you finished that put them into the oven and check every now and then to see if the bread is toasted.
6. And there is your SPAGHETTI BREAD CASES!
