Technology T3W6

For Technology we changed groups! Before I was in Mrs Tuipulotu and now I'm in Mr grundys class. 

Today in Mr Grundys class we are making glass designs! We learnt about using the tools properly so we don't get hurt and we also learnt how to make then which was always cut the glass in a straight line. Another thing that Mr Grundy told us was the rules and there were only 4 rules so we got them done pretty easily. 

To get started we had to draw our designs on a piece of paper that had 6 boxes that we could draw our designs in. After that we had to choose one of your most favourite ones and my one was the diamond and the colours that I chose was Sapphire. 

After I did a little bit of working on my design and then it was time to pack up and go back to school. But first we had to watch something that Mr Grundy showed us and it was about him teaching us how to do it was real glass. 

Sorry there are no photo's that I got from Mr Grundy but this was just a short story about what happened in Technology today.

Whakatauki o te wiki T3W6

Today for whakatauki o te wiki we had another whakatauki that we had to learn and it was "He aha te kai o te rangatira? He korero, he korero, he korero!" which means "what is the food of a leader". I know you may not get it but if you read through my slide show then you will get more information about it! 

I loved learning about this whakatauki because it was a bit challenging for me but I love challenges. Here is my whakatauki o te wiki learning for today.

DARE program T3W5! Session 3

Today I did my reflection about the "DARE" program session 3. We learnt more about drugs but more of all, advertisements and posters. I learnt that some posters that people make aren't true because they just want more money and they want it to be interesting. 

Here is my "DARE" Program reflection!

Whakatauki o te wiki T3W5

This is my whakatauki o te wiki learning that I have done this week. Our Whakatauki was "He iti hoki te mokoroa nana i katati te kahikatea" Which means "The mokoroa grub may be small, but can cut through the kahikatea". Today we learnt about what this whakatauki means to us and what it means to our ancestors. I have used my own working out to find out what this whakatauki means!

Book Box - T3W4

Today I did my book box reflection. To do book box all you need to do is read a text from a journal and answer some questions! Something that I enjoyed about this task was reading the story because it was very interesting!

Here is my Book Box reflection!

  1. Why did you decide that this text fit the ‘Explanation’ genre? I decided that this was an Explanation because the story was trying to tell us what is happening and because it also sounded like it was a Explanation.

  1. What level journal was this text from? A Level 4 book but Reading level was 7 to 8.

  1. What was the author trying to explain about? The Author was trying to explain what it was about, Where did they go, What they did and what happened.

  1. What enticed you to read this text? Because it was very interesting to read and the thing that made me want to read this text that it was kind of scary and it had really cool and detailed pictures.

QuickQure T3W4

WALT: Use a graph to describe the relationship and devise and use problems solving strategies! 

Today we solved a level 4 algebra problem. I kind of got suck but my friends Frances and Constance showed me a little bit of how to do it. It was a pretty tough question but I managed to get an answer and how I solved it. Something that I enjoyed today about this maths session was figuring out different ways to solve this question. There was really nothing that I didn't enjoy because this was such a fun maths session. After we finished our session we made a graph. Here is my graph that I did!


To solve this problem we used multiplication, division and we also used mls to help us. As you can see the dad and the daughter finish there medicine on the same day.

This week we did our whakatauki o te wiki and the whakatauki was "No to rourou, ra taku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi" which means

"With your food basket and my food basket, the people will thrive". This means that if you work together, then you will succeed and if you succeed, then you will finish your goal.

Technology T3W2

Last week for Technology we made chocolate chip muffins! This these are the ingredients on how to make them. I loved making these because I LOVE chocolate and putting chocolate in muffins is even better. I also loved tasting my other friends chocolate chip muffins and they were delicious. 

Chocolate chip muffins

Dry ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of S.R flour
- 1/4  coca
-1/4 chocolate chips

Wet ingredients:
- 1/2 milk
- 1/2 of butter
- 1/2 of yogurt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup of sugar

- scoop into muffin tray
- bake 180c for 15 minutes

Tom and Tia Topsy Turvy Money

WALT: Solve level 4 algebra problems!

Today we solved an algebra problem to calculate how much money would be spent and earnt by two twins. Tom started with $20 and  spent $2 per day. Tia started with $0 and earned 2.50 per day.

I used a table to help me calculate the day Tia would overlap tom with money. I also used my times tables to help be get a better result to see what the answer was! 

Our class also made links to statistics and chose a line graph to show our thinking. You can see clearly that by Friday, Tia will have more money the Tom because Tom is spending his money instead of saving like Tia.

Whakatauki o te wiki T3W3

This is my whakatauki o te wiki presentation. It's looks very new but some of the questions are the same. This whakatauki is about team work, working together and making the job easy. I liked working on this whakatauki because it's sounds very similar but it has more depth in it. I have done this whakatauki because it lets me write what I want to write instead of copying others. This is why we do Whakatauki o te wiki.
