Te Tuhi Reflection:

WALT: Use colour, shapes, pattern and scale to create our abstract painting inspired by technology

Today we went on a trip to Te Tuhi art gallery. We split up into 2 groups and one group went at 9:30am and came back at 11:50am. I was in the other group so we left at 11:50am and got back to school at 2:30pm. One thing that I really enjoyed at the Te Tuhi art gallery was that I got to see the different art that people have created and also see the different videos that people made. Another thing that I really enjoyed was making abstract art and using different colours, shapes and texture to create something! 

We got a tour around the gallery and one thing that caught my eye was a sign that said "JESUS" that was made out of brown sugar. This is because it was made out of brown sugar and a kind of super glue to help put it together. Also, the story behind this was something that was very specific and I good reason of why she did that.

One thing that I learnt today at Te Tuhi was how to make abstract art using colour, shapes, patterns etc. To make something abstract, you need to use different shapes and colours to create an effect. This is an example:

As you can see, these people have used different shapes, colours and texture.

How to create abstract art - process:

1. On your cardboard paper, outline with pencil the stencil the 4 technology stencils you have chosen.
2. draw two lines down and two lines across.
3. outline with vivid.
4. Choose 4 different colours to paint on your art(make sure the same colours of paint are not side by side).
5. Wait till dry!

I used the colours red, purple, blue and orange because I think that they are really good colours to use together! I decided to draw a laptop, a t.v, a pencil and a PS4(Playstation 4) controller because they are really common and they are technology that a lot of people use in the daily lives!

Te Tuhi Reflection

IALT: Reflect on my artwork "I am NZ"

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

On Friday we got split up into our home groups and 1 group went to Te Tuhi and the other group stayed behind and did work until we came back. After we came back we switched and the other group went to Te tuhi while my group stayed back and did a reflection about Te Tuhi!

Here is what I did for my Reflection.

Things we used:

• Paint film
• Drawing with pencil
• Etch drawings
• Coloured paper

Describe the steps you took to create your artwork:

In my artwork, I used clear film paper and painted it black. We then used pencil and drew our designs on the black film paper and used a art technique that Salome (art teacher) showed us. After that, we got to pick a different coloured paper and put it behind the black sheet which made the designs pop out more!

Was etching a new art skill for you?

It was definitely a new skill for me because as soon a I tried it, it was actually a fun skill to learn! It was also a great opportunity for me to show people how to use it and tell others what etching is if they don’t know.

Creative stories! Te Tuhi

WALT: Write a reflection about our experience at Te Tuhi.

1. 3 things that I have learnt:

One thing that I learnt at Te Tuhi is that people can be inspired just by the things around them just like Gary Peter and he made an artwork that was inspired by a ventilation! This is his artwork!

Another thing that I learnt was that Shannon Te Ao (an Artist) went to where he lived and he took lots of pictures, added different sounds and made a video about where he came from.

And last of all, I learnt that Shannon Te Ao made a video about his ancestors, one of his ancestors was sick and she ended up in a relationship with a man that she loved so much.

2. Explain two ways you can take what you have learned to give back to our TPS community?:

Coming back to TPS, I brought back a positive mindset and a can do attitude!

3. Name one thing that you would have liked to spend more time on?:

One thing that I would like to have spent more time on was our Role play because people didn't really know there lines so we kind of just made it up as we went through it. 

4. What was one thing Salome did that you liked?:

One thing Salome did that I liked was when she showed us Gary Peters artwork because it was very colourful and I liked that he got inspired just by this on little thing which was the Ventilation.

Te Tuhi relfection T1W10

Today room 9 and 10 went to a trip to Te tuhi. Te Tuhi is a kind of art center where people can come for free, and look or play with the stuff that are there. We got to look at different things that were very interesting to look at. We talked about the word "Climate" means. We got a tour around the place to see all of the things that people made. Some people invented their own things. We went into a art room where we  made our art pieces that we drew at school. We had to invent something that could he either air pollution, water pollution, flooding/water rising. At Te tuhi I heard a lot of interesting things. 

What did you like at Te Tuhi?
I liked it when we went into the art room and got to paint our inventions that we drew.

What did you learn from today about "Climate"?
I learnt that Climate means the weather is going to be a long period of time.

what types of things did we see there?
We saw a lot of things such as a bunk bed, mailboxes, swing, showers and many more different things.

This is my reflection about Te tuhi!!
