End Of Year Reflection!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

WALT: Reflect about 2018

Today will probably be my last time blogging at T.P.S because I will be leaving for college and we will also be very busy for the rest of the week. I will be talking about my highlights and low lights have been this year.

3 words that would describe 2018 would have to be
enjoyable, AWESOME and TEAM! These are the words that I have chosen that describes 2018 because it have just been an awesome year spending time with my friends and pairs around me and also getting to go on different trips. One achievement that I am most proud of is becoming a student leader because it was a great opportunity for me to help improve throughout the year and also share my learning with others/pairs.

This year, new things that I discovered about myself would have to that I was capable of learning new things in and out of the classroom and improving to make it better for the future. New skills that I have learnt this year would be encouraging others, working together with my pairs and friends in the classroom and also participating in events!

5 main people that I enjoyed spending time with this year would have to be:
This is because I became really close with them and it felt like they were sisters to me!

Also, Kensington, Toma, Aumau, Perenara, Tevita, Demetrius, Fe'ao, Amon, Edith, Stephney, Grace and hevani are some people that I have enjoyed spending time with even though its more them 5 people!!

This year, 3 people that had the most positive impact in my life would have to be Ms. Komor, Ms. Aireen and Kelly because they have helped me throughout the year and have shared there learning with us and helped us to improve in Reading, Writing and Maths. Thank you so much!

This is my end of year reflection.

Last Week Of School!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about the last week of school

First of all, I am so sorry that I haven't been blogging in a long time because I have been very busy doing a lot of other things and haven't had time to blog my work. But, I am back and here with some blogging!

This week is the last week of term 4 and so we will be spending our last days together as a TEAM! This week is actually a very busy week. We will be having a shared lunch on Tuesday, graduation/prize giving on Wednesday, christmas in the park on Thursday, and packing up the class on Friday. So it is going to be very busy.

One thing that I am enjoying at the moment is spending time with my friends and laughing A LOT. Also getting to share memories we had when we were young. I'm actually kind of scared of going to college next year because it is going to be very difficult and there is going to be A LOT of work.

Well, hope you have an AMAZING day like I am!

Athletics Reflection 2018!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Write about Athletics day last week

When: Friday 16th November
Where: It was held at the TPS field
Who: TPS students, family etc
What: Athletics day where students from TPS participate in field events and compete against each other!
Why: Because this is something that we do every year.

Last week on Friday 16th November, we had Athletics where we participate in different field events such as running, shot put, discus, high jump etc. It was held at the TPS field. After morning tea, we got straight into the running events which were the 50m, 100m, 75m, and the 400m runs. There was also the TEAM relays where we had to run around the whole track and work as a team to finish at the finish line. The teams that were versing was TOBRUK - Red(My team), BENGHAZI - Green, TRIPOLI - Blue and ALAMEIN - Yellow! We also got sausages and ice blocks for free because one of the parents brought all of it for everyone which was so kind of them.

This year for Athletics, I really enjoyed working together and having fun with my friends and my team even though we did lose but at least we had SO much fun! One thing that I found challenging was doing the 400m race because it was really hard breathing and one of my legs was injured but there was no one in my team that wanted to do it so I stood up and did for my team. Through this whole experience, one thing I learnt about myself was that I could actually do the 400m run with an injured leg even though it was painful.

House points:
As you guys may or may not know, the winners of Athletics this year was... BENGHAZI - green which I am very proud of them since they have won 2 years in a row. Also to Alamein who came 2nd and Tripoli who came 3rd. And to my team Tobruk, who came last. But I know that Tobruk will get 1st place next year!

QUESTION: Have you done Athletics at your school? If so, what place have you come e.g 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th?

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2018!

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2018:
Kia or and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about the Manaiakalani Film Festival on Wednesday!

Image result for manaiakalani

On Wednesday 7th November, Tamaki Primary(my school) went to the Manaiakalani Film Festival! If you don't know what that is, it is where a cluster of schools come together and showcase there learning by making movies and sharing them with other schools. This term, I got to opportunity to be one of the presenters and share what our movie is about! Watch our movie we made about TEAM!

One thing that I really enjoyed was watching all the AMAZING movies that other schools have made and how some included different cultures which was really cool. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that when we were presenting, we had to wait for our turn and watch a lot of the same movies over and over again.

Here is another site to go on and check out other schools movies! Also make sure comment on there movies too!

CHECK IT OUT

Also, we took some photos and videos while we were there...take a look:

QUESTION: What was one of the movies you enjoyed watching?

Maths - Decimals!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALA: Adding decimals

This week we have been given a worksheet about decimals! So far, I have just started because I have been to Kapa Haka lately. One of the questions that I am up to now is double 34.6. I first went 34.6 + 34.6 and did it in the algorithm way. I started of with the numbers 6 so 6 + 6 equals 12. So I put 2 at then end, carried the 1, so now it is 4 + 4 + 1 equals 9. I then went 30 + 30 = 6. My answer altogether was 69.2!

One thing that I really enjoyed was that some of the question were quite challenge which I love challenges. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that I had to look for the number then colour it in which took a really long time! One thing that I need to work on is making sure that it is the right answer before I colour in the box.

QUESTION: What is one thing you enjoy about Maths?

Nature Watcher - Predator free!

Nature Watcher - Predator Free:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALA: Agree, disagree or slightly disagree/agree about predator free

Today with Ms. Treena, we learnt about predator free. Nature Watcher was someone that said that all animals that are called pests by the predator free should be treated with more respect. Do you agree, disagree or slightly agree/disagree? Well I actually disagree...here why:

I'm sorry to say nature watcher but I strongly disagree with you because as other people from other countries bring animals to our country, they can affect our plants, people, animals, etc. Pests are animals that kill our native birds/animals which carry diseases. They can also be a danger and a threat to our country.
Pests that the department of conservation(DOC) listed:
Wild rabbits
Feral cat
Possum
Hedgehog
Kaimarama horses
(DOC) also listed wildlife that need protection from pests:
Wren
Weta
Powelliphanta snail
Knobbled weevil
Green gecko
___________________________________________

Yes I do disagree and many people might agree or disagree but I just think that more people and animals will be affected by pests if people don't do anything about it.

Question: Why do you think?
Give your opinion!

Te Tuhi Reflection!

Te Tuhi Reflection:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

WALT: Use colour, shapes, pattern and scale to create our abstract painting inspired by technology

Today we went on a trip to Te Tuhi art gallery. We split up into 2 groups and one group went at 9:30am and came back at 11:50am. I was in the other group so we left at 11:50am and got back to school at 2:30pm. One thing that I really enjoyed at the Te Tuhi art gallery was that I got to see the different art that people have created and also see the different videos that people made. Another thing that I really enjoyed was making abstract art and using different colours, shapes and texture to create something!

We got a tour around the gallery and one thing that caught my eye was a sign that said "JESUS" that was made out of brown sugar. This is because it was made out of brown sugar and a kind of super glue to help put it together. Also, the story behind this was something that was very specific and I good reason of why she did that.
One thing that I learnt today at Te Tuhi was how to make abstract art using colour, shapes, patterns etc. To make something abstract, you need to use different shapes and colours to create an effect. This is an example:

As you can see, these people have used different shapes, colours and texture.

How to create abstract art - process:
  1. On your cardboard paper, outline with pencil the stencil the 4 technology stencils you have chosen.
  2. draw two lines down and two lines across.
  3. outline with vivid.
  4. Choose 4 different colours to paint on your art(make sure the same colours of paint are not side by side).
  5. Wait till dry!
I used the colours red, purple, blue and orange because I think that they are really good colours to use together! I decided to draw a laptop, a t.v, a pencil and a PS4(Playstation 4) controller because they are really common and they are technology that a lot of people use in the daily lives!

QUESTION: What do you now know about abstract art?

Leadership Lesson - Balancing Responibilities!

Leadership Programme - Balancing Responsibilities:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect what we learnt about Balancing Responsibilities

Image result for leadership

Today we have done our first leadership lesson for term 4 and we learnt about balancing responsibilities. To balance our responsibilities, we need to be able to utilise others, prioritise and focus on the objective.

My responsibilities to my school work:
Someone that could help me are my friends, teachers and pairs.
I can ask for help when stuck on something if I need it.
I can get work done and it will be finished on time.

My responsibilities to leadership duties:
Someone that could help me are my teachers, friends and my pairs.
I will show up to breakfast club and be respectful in and out of class.
I will be a role model to the younger students and show the school values.

A responsibility I have outside of school:
Someone that could help me are my family and my siblings.
I can do my chores/clean when asked to do them.
I will get it DONE!

Abstract Art!

Abstract Art:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

Image result for abstract art word

IALT: Discover what Abstract art is/means

Image result for abstract artThis week we have been learning about abstract art because we will be going to the Te Tuhi Art Gallery in a next week. We got shown a few paintings that are abstract art and they weren't very clear to see. Abstract art is when you are using different shapes, colours, sizes and forms and turning it into artwork.

We are learning about Abstract art because it's something that is different and when you are making it, you are using different shapes and sizes to represent something. Abstract means using shapes, colour and size to create a painting that represents what you have done. When creating abstract art, the technology that you are using are paint brushes, shapes, material etc.
____________________________

WALH: To make something abstract!

Today we have done our 2nd lesson on abstract art. We saw some pictures that were transformed into abstract art using shapes. One thing that caught my eye was the laptop because they tried to make it kind of slant and had the laptop open. We looked at the basic shapes that were used to create something abstract.

______________________________

WALA: Technology people use for abstract art!

Today we have done our 3rd lesson about the different types of technology that people use for abstract art and what technology people used years ago until now. I found out that paint brushes, measuring tape, ruler, pencils, canvas etc are the things that people use to make abstract art. I also found out that they used different cameras in the olden days but now we use phones, upgrades cameras etc to take photos/selfies. I think that when artist are creating art, it might be really hard because they have to be creative and use the different objects around the room to create something!

One thing that I am looking forward at Te Tuhi is maybe making my own abstract art where I get to be creative! I am also looking forward to seeing the different abstract art that people have made!

QUESTION: Have you made abstract art before?

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about Technology

For Technology we witched groups and I am in the Cooking group. One the first week, we made pancakes and my partner was Akanesi. One thing that I really enjoyed was making pancakes with my friend Akanesi because even though our pancakes didn't look like pancakes. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that some  were burnt and they didn't taste very nice.

If you are wondering how to make pancakes, here is the recipe and the ingredients if you want to make some at home:
  1.  Use 2 seperate bowls (one for dry ingredients and one for wet ingredients)
  2. Use one bowl for dry ingredients - use 1 1/2 of self rising flour and a 1/2 cup of white sugar
  3. Use another bowl for wet ingredients - use 1 cup of milk and one egg.
  4. Whisk them separately and then mix them together
  5. Put on oven on high and once it is hot put butter on and once you pour the batter onto the pan you turn it on low.
  6. Wait for pancakes to cook - add toppings and then you are finished!

My First Blog Reflection For T4 2018

My First Blog Reflection For T4 2018:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Explain what I did in the holidays

Image result for back to school

As you may or may not know, the school holidays have just finished and it's back to school for me! I first started my school holidays off by going to Rainbows End with my family which was SO AMAZING and One of the rides that I really enjoyed was the stratosphere. During the holidays, I also went roller skating in Panmure which I wasn't really good at but I still kept going because it was so fun and it was something new for me.

This term we are doing a lot of trips and sports. which is going to be AWESOME. One thing that I am looking forward to is going to Motat because I have a lot of experience and I haven't been there in a while. One thing that I want to improve on is my maths because I am not that confident and it is my least favourite subject. I can achieve this by practicing regularly and encouraging myself. I think that my friends, teachers and pairs around me can help me to achieve this!

QUESTION: What is something you are looking forward to this term?
