Tornado - Poetry!

Tornadoes - Poetry:

IALT: Reflect about my Poetry reflection

Today I have just finished my poem about Tornadoes. A lot of people decided to make there one rhyme but I decided not to. Here is my poem that I wrote:

The Terrifying Cloud:

I awaken from a deep sleep with the sounds of terror. The rain cried with extreme thunder and lightning appearing from the night sky, as the moon and the stars danced away. I was in a horror movie.

I tip toe to my window and the sounds get closer and closer,
The hard wind knocks on my window with a big BANG! I glanced at the window like a statue.

The wind gets harder and BANGS on the window again, I quickly run outside. A MASSIVE cloud appears out of the blue, everyone runs the other direction.

TORNADO!” Yell’s everyone...

The Tornado span around like a merry-go-round.
It whirled, twirled, twisted and curled toward me. Picking up everything like a vacuum cleaner.

I am anxiously terrified,
Shivers in my body like i’m in a tub of ice.

I’m running from side to side as it constantly carries on. Am I dreaming?

In a few hours it is finished. Houses, cars and cities are destroyed. My everything has vanished.

I really enjoyed writing this poem about Tornadoes because I got to express my feelings in this poem! One thing that I didn't enjoy was that I tried to my it rhyme but then I decided not to because it was kind of hard. One thing I have learnt is to put my punctuation in the correct place.

Tuvalu - Hemoana And Fenu Myth

Tuvalu - Hemoana And Fenu Myth:

IALA: The myths of the Pacific

Today we got into our groups for the production that we are going to be doing in a few weeks. In my group is:
- Perenara
- Hamish
- Jose
- Masin
- David
- Wallymei
The country that we are focusing on is AOTEAROA/NEW ZEALAND! Since we are learning about natural disasters, each group got a different natural disaster and we had to work on as a group task. One thing that I am enjoying so far is that I am working collaboratively with the people in my group and every now and then I would ask them if they needed help. Another thing that I am also enjoying about this project is that I get to talk and hang out with my peers in class that I normally don't get to which is a great opportunity for me to connect with them and get to know them better! One thing that I didn't enjoy today was that my group didn't have a New Zealand myth that we could work on so instead we had to work on the Tuvalu story which was actually really fun.

We also got shared a presentation and we had to do an oral presentation. Here is what I did:

Year 8 Day!!

Year 8 DAY:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Experience a day in a life of a college student

Yesterday on Thursday as you all may know we had Technology! We also had a year 8 day where all the year 8's stay at Tamaki College and get a experience what it's like to be in college. We got schedules and after Technology, we had morning tea. After that in the second period, we went to English and Maths. And in the Last period we went to Science and then P.E. I really enjoyed P.E because we got to play capture the flag and we had to work together to get the other cone. I also really enjoyed Maths because even though it's my least favourite subject, it was a great way for me to learn how hard or easy there Maths is going to be. Something that I didn't enjoy was that we had to walk in and down stairs which was so tiring.

During lunch, we got a tour from the year 9's that came to our school last year. It was funny because when ever I walked next to someone from Tamaki College, they were WAY taller than me. Also, we got PIZZA for lunch and I ate the cheese pizza!

I think that this was a great way to show us what it is going to be like next year so I do recommend this to the year 8 students and I know that the year 7's(becoming year 8's) next year will have an AMAZING time!

QUESTION: Did you get to go to another college and experience what it is like? If yes, what did you enjoy and what didn't you enjoy?

Basketball Game!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about our Basketball game today

Today at 4:00pm we had our Basketball game and we were versing Glen Taylor School. Unfortunately we didn't win but it was a close game. I'm not sure what the scores were but at least we had fun. Our motto is "Humble winners, gracious loses". Even though we didn't win, we still tried our best. One thing that I really enjoyed was that we worked as a TEAM and we shared the ball. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that we had to wait for our game because our game was meant to be at 3:45pm but they changed it so we played our game at 4:00pm. I think that I need to work on is my shooting because it's kind of hard so I need to practice a lot!

I think a goal as a TEAM is to share the ball and practice getting the ball in the hoop. A goal for myself is to practice by shooting!!

Museum trip #2!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about the Museum trip day 2

Today we went to the museum again. We learnt about te ao maori and we got to see a giant squid. We had an assignment which was so create something using the tools that we could use to explain the natural disaster that we chose.

One thing that I enjoyed today was starting my project because am learning about volcanic eruptions with Monita and we are using the robots to explain what we have been learning about for volcanic eruptions. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that we didn't get enough time to finish but we will be finishing it off in a few weeks when they come. One thing that I learnt was how to record my voice and make the robot say it. I would definitely recommend using robots to explain what you have been learning about because it is very fun to use and it is very creative to show your learning!

QUESTION: Have you been to the Museum? If yes, What did you learn there?

Driving Range!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about me going to the driving range

On Saturday, I went to the driving range which is where you get a bucket of golf balls and you get to hit them. I went with my mum, dad and my big sister and we went around 11:00pm and we came back home at 2:30am in the morning. One thing that I really enjoyed was that I got a whole bucket to myself. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that I was getting blisters on my hands because I was holding the golf club to hard and when I hit it, it was make my hands have blisters so I tried holding it a bit softer. And I also enjoyed spending time with my mum, dad and my sister!

IALT: Reflect about What Now coming to our school

On Sunday, What Now came to our school! There were a lot of games that happened and I got to be on t.v. I also got to meet Roonie, Erin and Chris after What Now and I got to take photos and also get there autograph. It started at 8:00am and I was thinking whether I should go or not but I decided to go(at 8:30)! When I got there, there was a lot of people but I was lucky enough to get a seat because not that many people got a sit. One thing that I enjoyed was that Roonie, Erin and Chris always came to our side because we were split into teams and they always came to the yellow team which was my team!

At the end of the day, It was great to see that everyone had a smile on there faces and the next day they were ALL talking about it!

Museum Trip!

Museum Trip:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about our museum trip

Today we went to the Museum! When we first got there, we were split into groups and I was in group 1. What we did was we went to a room upstairs and we did a Karakia. We also met a few people and they introduced them to us. After that we went of into our groups and one group stayed back in the room while the other group went to the volcano gallery then we switched. My group went first to the volcano gallery and it was really cool because we went into the volcanic room and they changed the video because before it was different. One thing that I really enjoyed in the volcano gallery was that I learnt more about volcanoes. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that we had to go because the other group had to come. But the cool thing was that we got phones to take photos (of work, not ourselves)!

When then came together for morning tea. After morning tea we split into our groups again but this time the other group went to the volcano gallery and my group went back to the room. In the room, we got to do all sorts of things such as virtual reality, green screen, tinkercad, robots, and a lot more. I really enjoyed virtual reality because we got to draw and I was drawing a lot of things which was really cool! One thing that I didn't enjoy was when I went to stop motion, the tablet wasn't working so I couldn't make one. One thing that I really was how to code because we had to use coding for robots and it was really fun.

After that, we had lunch that was provided for us. Then we went back to the room and we had to do a task which was to choose a natural disaster. Then we had to choose how we are going to present it using the robots, 3D printing, stop motion etc. We also had to stay in our partners and I was with Monita. We decided that our natural disaster is Volcanic eruptions and we will be using robots to present our work!

Technology!

Technology:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about technology today

Today we had technology and it was really fun because when I got there, we got our things that we needed and we went off to finish our pendant. One thing that I enjoyed was a sand papering because that was probably that only thing that I had to do which was sand papering A LOT. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that I have to do A LOT more of sand papering and we only have 2 sessions of technology to finish our pendant which is very stressful.

This is a pendant:

After 2 sessions have finished, we will be switching groups and I will be in Cooking with Ms. Tuipulotu. One thing that I am looking forward to is cooking something new because maybe some of the things we cook is something that I have never cooked before!

QUESTION: Do you have Technology? If yes, what do you like about it?

CRAZY DAY!

CRAZY DAY:

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

WALT: Give back to Kids Can

TODAY WAS CRAZY DAY! Where Tamaki Primary School got to wear mufti and went a little crazy with what they wore. We also had to bring a gold coin donation so that we can give a little back to Kids Can. Kids Can has supplied us with tissues, shoes, raincoats, food etc so our school wanted to give a little back to them because they have done a lot for us. One thing that I really enjoyed was that I got to get a little crazy with what I wore and I looked so funny!

QUESTION: What is something CRAZY that you would wear?

Technology - Pewter Casting!

Technology - Pewter Casting:

IALT: Reflect about Technology

Yesterday was the first day that we had technology for this term. I was so EXCITED because our class has not been to technology in a while and I was so happy that we were going. As you may or may not know, I am in Mr. Grundy's class and so far I have go upto sand papering. Next week I can't wait because I am nearly done with my project!

One thing that I really enjoyed at technology yesterday was seeing what other people have been doing. I saw one project from someone and they are doing a bird which looked so cool. One thing that I didn't enjoy was that there were A LOT of people on the board because they needed help so I had to wait a very long time. One thing that I learnt was that when you file your pendant, you make sure that you get every edge and that it is shiny.

QUESTION: Have you ever done pewter casting?

Whanau Conferences!

Whanau Conferences:
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Reflect about Whanau Conferences today

Image result for Whanau conference

Today we had whanau conferences which is where our teachers get to meet our parents and discuss our learning and our behavior. We did have school but we finished early at 12:00pm so the student leaders went to set up the classroom for our whanau to come. Then at 11:00am we had morning tea as usual and at then after morning tea we finished off some work. We then went home at 12:00pm.

The time that I was given for whanau conferences was 2:50pm and we talked about my learning and I also showed my nan my blog. One thing that I need to work more on is my maths because as you all may know maths isn't my best subject but I still try really hard to work on it more. One thing that I really enjoyed at whanau conferences was discussing my learning and seeing what I need to improve on for this term.

QUESTION: Do you have whanau conferences and do you call it something else?

Kapa Haka!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog!

IALT: Write about what we did in Kapa haka

Today we had Kapa haka in the middle block and we are learning a song/haka but today we only worked on the haka. During our kapa haka session, we had to do a papahurunuku's which kind of like a squat. This is because a lot of us were lack and we sounded boring so we had to do this for a very long time. We also had to do this other move but I forgot the name. It was where you have to jump up and kick your feet back so that it hits the back of your legs. It was really sore when we did it because we were all getting tired but our Kapa haka tutors told us that they had to do it for a very long time, longer then what we did.

One thing that I enjoyed was learning a new haka/song that we will be finishing on Thursday. One thing that I didn't enjoy was doing the papahurunuku's because my legs were getting so sore but I tried to keep going. My next steps are:
- Learn how to pronounce the words properly
- Sing/haka louder
- Be confident
